Terms of Use
Version 1 · Last updated October 13, 2026
These terms cover the Showplaces app, its servers, and this website. They are an agreement between you and Ocelot Wrangler, LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company that makes Showplaces (“we” or “us”). By using Showplaces, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we store and why. It’s part of these terms.
Who can use Showplaces
- Anyone can use Showplaces without an account.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If the law where you live sets a higher age, that age applies.
- If you’re under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- You can’t use Showplaces if we’ve deleted your account for breaking these terms, or if the law where you live forbids it.
Accounts
- You don’t need an account. Without one, your places stay on your device.
- Sharing, syncing between devices and Showplaces Pro need an account. You sign in with Apple or with a code we email you.
- You’re asked to accept these terms the first time you sign in.
- Keep your devices and email secure. You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.
Your content
Your places, groups, notes, photos, videos, display name and profile picture are your content. You own it. Only add content you have the right to use.
You give us permission to store, copy and show your content, only as far as we need to run Showplaces for you:
- to keep it on our servers and sync it between your devices;
- to back it up;
- to show it to the people you share it with, including anyone who opens a link you send; and
- to review it if someone reports it.
We don’t use your content for advertising, and we don’t sell it. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups, which age out on their own, and copies kept with reports, as the Privacy Policy explains.
A share link works for anyone who has it, until it expires or is used up. Only send links to people you trust with what they show.
What’s not allowed
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Don’t use Showplaces to share, or to put in front of anyone:
- sexual content or nudity;
- anything that sexualizes or exploits children;
- harassment, bullying, threats, or hate against people for who they are;
- violence, or encouragement of dangerous acts or self-harm;
- someone else’s private information, such as where they live, to expose, harass or target them;
- anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights, such as their copyright;
- spam, scams, or pretending to be someone else.
Also don’t:
- try to get around a block, a takedown or a suspension, including by making another account;
- break the rules in Using Showplaces’ servers and code; or
- use it to break the law.
Anyone who does these things can lose the ability to share, or their account, without warning. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
Using Showplaces’ servers and code
Our servers and their API exist only for the Showplaces apps and this website. You may reach them only through those, used as they’re meant to be. Don’t:
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or try to work out its source code;
- intercept, inspect, replay or alter the app’s traffic to our servers, or use it to work out how our API works;
- call our servers from anything but our apps and website, including your own app, a script, a bot, a scraper or any other automated tool;
- probe, scan or test Showplaces for weaknesses, or get around its security, sign-in, rate limits or any other limit;
- unlock Showplaces Pro, or any other paid feature, without paying for it;
- get at, or try to get at, an account, showplace, group, photo, video or share link that isn’t yours and wasn’t shared with you, including by guessing links or IDs;
- copy or collect data from Showplaces, or use it or the API to build another product or service; or
- overload Showplaces, or interfere with it or with anyone else’s use of it.
If you find a security problem, email support@ocelotwrangler.com and stop there. Don’t use it, don’t look at anyone’s data, and don’t share it with anyone else until we’ve fixed it. Telling us isn’t permission to keep testing.
We may publish some of Showplaces’ source code under a source-available license. That license, not these terms, governs what you can do with that code. It doesn’t give you permission to use our servers: only these terms do, and only through our apps and website. If you build or run your own copy, point it at your own servers.
Showplaces’ name, logo and design belong to Ocelot Wrangler, LLC. These terms let you use the app. They don’t give you any other right to them. Where the law gives you a right these rules would otherwise take away, such as a right to reverse engineer for compatibility, these rules apply only as far as the law allows.
Breaking these rules can cost you your account, and we may block access, or take legal action, without warning.
Reporting and blocking
- In the app, you can report a shared showplace, group, photo or person from its menu. On this website, use the “Report” link at the bottom of a shared link’s page.
- We review every report within 24 hours.
- You can block anyone who shares with you. You both leave each other’s shared showplaces and groups, neither of you can invite the other, and you stop seeing each other’s places, photos and profile picture in groups you both belong to. They aren’t told.
See Support for how to do each of these.
What we can do about content that breaks these terms
We don’t browse your places or scan your photos. We act on what is reported to us. When something breaks these terms, we can:
- Stop a showplace or group being shared. Everyone it was shared with loses access, and its links stop working. It stays in its owner’s library, but can’t be shared again.
- Delete a reported photo or video from our servers. It also disappears from your devices the next time they sync.
- Reset a display name to “Showplaces User”, or remove a profile picture.
- Expire a share link, so it no longer opens.
- Suspend an account’s sharing. Everything it shares stops being shared, and it’s removed from everything shared with it. It can’t share or join shared things again until the suspension is lifted. The rest of the app keeps working: your own places, syncing, and accepting copies people send you.
- Delete an account, for serious or repeated breaches.
We may do these things without telling you first. A suspension or a stop on sharing can be lifted, but nothing that was removed comes back: people who lost access need a new invite.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, email support@ocelotwrangler.com. Tell us what happened and include your account ID. When you contact us from inside the app, the email already includes your account ID. We’ll look at the decision again and reply.
Showplaces Pro
- Showplaces Pro is an optional subscription, sold by Apple through the App Store. It’s offered weekly, monthly or yearly, at the prices shown in the app before you buy. You need a Showplaces account to subscribe.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Cancel in your Apple Account’s subscription settings: on iPhone, Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Deleting the app, or your Showplaces account, doesn’t cancel it.
- Apple handles payments and refunds, under its own policies.
When Pro ends
- Pro features stop at once. You can’t start new live or collaborative shares, add videos, or add more than 3 photos to a showplace.
- Your 50 most recently created showplaces and 3 most recently created routes stay fully in the cloud. Any beyond those become read-only: you can view or delete them, but not change them. Photos and videos you already added stay, and can still be viewed.
- Anything you’ve shared stays shared. People you shared a read-only showplace with can still see it, but can no longer change it.
- 30 days later, the showplaces and routes beyond those, with their photos and videos, are deleted from our servers. The copies on your device stay, and keep working on that device, but no longer sync or back up. People you shared them with lose access, and can keep a copy of their own.
- We email you before then. If you subscribe again within those 30 days, nothing is deleted.
Apple
If you got Showplaces from the App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for Showplaces or its content.
- You may use Showplaces on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store’s Usage Rules allow. This permission is personal to you and can’t be transferred.
- Apple has no duty to provide support or maintenance for Showplaces.
- If Showplaces fails to meet a warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for the app, if anything. Apple has no other warranty duty for Showplaces, as far as the law allows.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims about Showplaces, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, consumer protection claims, and claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property.
- You confirm you aren’t in a country under a US government embargo, and aren’t on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also follow the terms of any other service you use with Showplaces, such as your mobile carrier’s.
- Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms against you, as third-party beneficiaries.
Things we can’t promise
We work hard to keep Showplaces running and your places safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We may change or stop features as the app develops. Keep your own copy of anything you can’t afford to lose.
Addresses, coordinates, maps and other place information can be wrong or out of date. Check them before you rely on them, and when you’re traveling, pay attention to where you are and follow the law, whatever the app shows.
Showplaces is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it’s merchantable, fit for a particular purpose, or doesn’t infringe anyone’s rights.
As far as the law allows, Ocelot Wrangler, LLC and its owners and employees aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, that come from Showplaces or these terms, even if we were told they might happen. Our total liability for all claims about Showplaces is limited to the greater of what you paid for Showplaces Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you added, or because you broke these terms or the law, you’ll cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees, as far as the law allows.
Some places don’t allow some of these limits. Where they don’t, they apply only as far as the law there allows. Nothing in these terms takes away a consumer right that the law says can’t be taken away.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, email us first. Most problems can be sorted out that way.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina and of the United States, without regard to rules that would apply another place’s law. Any dispute about Showplaces or these terms goes to the state or federal courts in North Carolina, and you and we both agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court instead, if it qualifies. If you live outside the United States and your local law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, or under your own law, you keep it.
Ending
You can stop using Showplaces at any time, and delete your account in the app. We can suspend sharing or delete an account that breaks these terms, as described above.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Showplaces changes. Each version is numbered and dated at the top of this page. This is version 1. When a change matters, we raise the version and the app asks you to accept the new terms. We keep a record of which version you accepted, and when.
The rest
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Showplaces.
- If a court finds part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce part of these terms right away, we haven’t given up the right to.
- You can’t transfer these terms to anyone else. We can, if Showplaces or Ocelot Wrangler, LLC changes hands, and we’ll tell you if we do.
